Things I cannot do

First and foremost, the number one thing I cannot do is 'Think of things I CAN do'.
I realized this when working on my previous post. It should not be that hard to think of things I can do. I mean, things that are actually worthy of being on the list. Sure, I can tie my shoes, count to 10, eat with a fork, breathe, things like that. But actual talents, that's a stumper. I have many things that most people can do that I can't, like blow bubblegum bubbles, dive, whistle, french braid hair. These are things that I just never learned how to do as a kid and I've missed my learning window and I think it's too late. I sure would like to acquire more skills, but the question is when and how do I go about doing this? I'm lucky if I have time to change my underwear, let along learn how to knit. Do I have to wait until my kids are grown to learn these things? I'll be 52 by the time John M. is 18. Hey, that's when I can retire! Maybe this is all coming together. Maybe my grandchildren can teach me to blow bubbles and whistle. They can laugh about how Maw-Maw Daig is ancient and can't perform these simple tasks. That will have to be the plan. I'll have to post about my learning experiences then. Check back in 17 years and I'll update my list.

don't feel bad, I can't whistle either. Neither can I french braid hair. Oh well!

I'm sure there are lots of things you can do, you just aren't letting yourself. Hey, I don't know how to knit and that's a cool thing to do. My sister can and she makes some great stuff.

P.S. I will do this post, probably this evening. Thanks for including me in your tag. And I linked you, hope that's ok!

Maybe your kids can teach you how to do some of those things (or some better "modern day" equivalents).

I think I was about to writing something profound but somebody keeps bugging me to get her crayons.

That sounds like a fun retirement. I think I'm going to make a list of 100 childish things I want to learn to do in my retirement.

It'll give me something to look forward to. Otherwise I think we're required to watch endless hours of Wheel of Fortune.
