1.) Okay, the first is a big thing! Mark's PET Scan came back clear, which means the cancer has not spread to any vital organs!
2.) John's cute haircut today, that makes him look like a miniature man.
3.) So many special emails from friends that make me know that I am loved. I have truly come to believe that I could not make it without my friends.
It was a GREAT day today, for many reasons. Thanks to everyone who made it that way.

Stepping Up to the Plate
I'm not the type of the person who just drifts through life, not wondering all the horrible 'What If's?'.
-What if someone I love gets into a horrible car accident?
-What if one of my kids gets sick?
-What if I find out I have some dreaded disease?
etc., etc.
Sometimes, I think about these things far too often than the 'average' person should.
I was shocked none the less to find out last week that Mark has cancer. If anyone should have seen a big, bad thing coming, it should have been me, right? But I really didn't. We're not sure exactly what type yet, but we're pretty sure it's cancer of the throat.
He's dealing with it amazingly well. Me, on the other hand . . .
I really thought I was strong, but now I'm feeling not so much. It's so much up and down, I feel a little insane.
Good has been coming out of it though. I hope it comes out all good in the end. Please keep us in your thoughts. We're having to step up to the plate.

Merry Slogmas
I've invented a new word, one that fits me lately:
Slog - A blog slacker. I have good intentions to blog, but am too lazy or time-pressed to do it.
I figured I'd give it one more shot before the new year.
I've been doing lots of gift-wrapping, last minute shopping, and cleaning up.
Mark has accepted a new job IN OUR HOME TOWN! Not in New Orleans, 90 miles away anymore. But 10 MINUTES AWAY! Can I say I'm thrilled?! It's WAY less money, but we're going to try and work it out. Okay, that's enough CAPS and exclamations.
Anyway, yet another new beginning that I hope is a good one. He starts at the beginning of the year (next week?).
So for the next few days, we'll be wrapped up in Christmas festivities, lots of stuffing our faces and lots of trying to cram new gift items into every nook and cranny of our already crowded house.
I hope everyone out there has a good holiday and I'll catch y'all later. Maybe in 2008?
Now, back to our regularly scheduled Slogmas.

Feelin' like a family . . . at least for now
Today was good. You know why?
Because, today, for the first time in a long time, I felt like a family.
Mark was off of work; his first day off since he started his job in November (not including the weekends).
I had to work, so he kept the kids. I didn't have to get them up and ready for the first time in 6 months.
I.made.it.to.work.early. Someone please hang a medal around my neck and stick a gold star on my forehead.
He took them to visit MawMaw and PawPaw and took Em' to pitching practice.
He spent time with his boy. And they were there when I got home. And we actually got to hang around a bit.
Something as simple as that made me happier than I have been in a while.
I want my family back. My whole family. Hopefully, one day soon, that will happen.
Happy Almost Father's Day, Mark. Without you, we just can't be us.
Love,
Froggie
