Stages

Remember when I told y'all about Anna's anxiety about leaving me back in September? She has gotten a tad better about it but not much. She's gone to church with my mom a couple of times without me, but that's about it. She still seems to have much anxiety about being without me, unless she's at school. She has gotten much better in the morning about me leaving for work. She doesn't cry at all anymore and the goodbyes have gotten shorter and shorter. Poor little thing, she's so proud of herself when she does something without me, she points it out and says things like, 'Mom, I went to 'fill_in_the_blank" without you, by myself, wasn't that good?' and I always try to praise her and tell her how proud I am that she's doing more things on her own.

Well, her 2 best friends have birthdays coming up and they're both having sleepovers. She told me last night, 'Mom, Lauren (one of the best friends) is going to invite me to sleep over at her house this weekend and I'm going to go.' I said, 'Really, you are?', with much surprise because she hasn't slept over anywhere since last spring. I said 'that's a great attitude to have, Anna. What made you decide to do it?'. She told me, 'Well, I just HAVE to get out of this stage!'. As if she was a pyschiatrist and knew all the rules. I hope she does get out of this stage soon. Maybe since she seems to have put her mind to it, it will happen!

(weight update, I was down 4 lbs when I weighed this morning. I'm sure much of it has to do with weighing in the a.m. instead of p.m and Aunt Flo leaving the building, but still!)

Cute picture! Sounds like she is slowly growing up and hopefully she will go to the sleepover and it will help her to feel safe to do some things without you.

WTG on the 4lbs. I always weigh myself in the AM, after I pee & naked ,lol

Hugs Suz

Congrats on the weight loss chick ! Thats awesome.

Damn that Aunt Flo !!

I have a couple friends of my daughters that still have that seperation feeling. One of them had problems when her Grandparents went traveling during the winter months. She was real attached to them. I guess after many doctor visits, they put her on some fake medication making her think she was getting real medication and it helped her. She has since increased her distance from her parents and grandparents. I've taken her on a few girl outtings and sporting events. She does pretty good. Even stayed over night at our house. And she is 13 years old. Chin up, it will get better.

I hate it when Aunt Flo comes to visit. She always gets me off track my weight loss routine. Mornings are a great time to weigh. WTG on the 4 pounds.

Cute picture, as for the weight issue, don't weigh yourself, just work out and eat better and if your clothes and fitting better and you look better, then you will be losing weight. But if you constantly look at your scale, it will discourage you some days. :)

I bet in a way you're sad she's growing up.
Throw your dang scale away!

Oh, she is so cute!

She sounds like she's turing the corner on the fear thing.

I had no idea it was so common. I am close to another little girl who is like that with her mommy. I will tell her it seems to be normal.

That is a hard stage. You want them to want to be with you but you want them to be independent. If she makes it through the sleepover, brag on her and if she calls in the middle of the night go get her and love on her. She will grow up fast enough.
