My Mom 'Catch-Phrase'

Thought I'd jot down this phrase I catch myself saying over and over to my daughters.

Usually preceded by them telling me they don't WANT to do something or don't feel like doing something.

Me: "I do LOTS of things I don't want to do."

Usually to be followed by 'So, that's life' or 'Get used to it'.

I say this all the time. Do you have a phrase like that? If so, please share.

I've been using "the powers that be" lately when referring to work issues.

I love it! This is really TERRIBLE, and I'd never say it to my daughters but I certainly heard it when I was a kid, and there are definitely moments when I THINK it as a parent!

"Oh, you're crying? I'll give you something to cry about!"

Ugh!

I say this a lot:
"The truth hurts".

When my were little and lived at home, they used to tell me that I only had kids to do my work for me! My response....'if I didn't have kids, I wouldn't have all this work!'

And they didn't have much work to do.......I allowed them to be kids!

I always swore I'd never say this, but when faced continuously with a three-and-a-half year old's "WHY?" I can't help but say, "Because I am your mother, and I said so."

God. Help. Me.

I remember tell you and Kelli this quite frequently, "'cause I'm the Mom".

Thinking about it now, it really doesn't make any sense to say, but I find myself saying a lot: "I'll make you think....(bored, mean, whatever). Weird, I know.

HAHA! That's a good one. I tend to say, "What you want and what you get are two different things..."

Lord help me the day she uses it back...
