Total opposites

(hard pressed to find a recent pic of me and Anna)
Anna participated in 4-H Achievement Day today at her school. Her favorite award was a small silver medal for placing first in a demonstration she did with a friend of hers. They presented how to make Mississippi Mud Cake. She didn't think twice about it. She even looked forward to doing it.

Renee's biggest fear: Any type of public speaking. Anything. I've had this fear for as long as I can remember. Anna totally does not understand it.
That's her daddy in her. She's Mark inside and out.

I love it that we're so different in so many ways. She does things that I would never dream of doing. She has no fear when it comes to the things I fear the most. She also makes me prouder than I ever thought possible. She's my girl, my polar opposite, but mine all the way.

Isn't great that we can celebrate the differences in our children as much as the similarities. My girls have achieved so much more than me in so many ways:)

It's wonderful to see our children and grandchildren succeed in something we would fail miserably at.

Hooray for Anna!

Congrats to Anna! I love observing the similarities and differences between children and their parents.

My Emily is like your Anna and totally opposite of me in that realm. I have a very real fear of speaking in public, but my daughter can get up in front of a crowd and do what she needs to. My eldest son too. I try to remember if I had this fear at their ages or if it's something I acquired as I got older. I think I was always afraid.

I just came across your blog.
I just wanted to say congrats to your daughter! My son and I are alike in so many ways yet different in so many ways! It's so wonderful!

I think it's awesome that Anna excels at public speaking. That's one of my big fears, too. I can't wait to watch my girls grow and develop their unique talents! I'm hoping one of them will "love" to cook...ha! ;)

Congrats to your girl!

4-H is so cool - not only does she get a medal but there's a tasty treat to be enjoyed at the end. ;) Congrats to her! Great pic too - ya'll are both lovely mirrors of the other. :)

Alright on the award - and alright to you mom, for not passing on that fear. I can TOTALLY identify with you, as that is one of my worst fears. I think that's why I enjoy blogging so much. It's the only way I can speak to people en masse. I get literally SICK in front of a crowd and come across like a jackass. I would hate to pass that on to Faith.

I am not big on public speaking either so I can relate. It is nice the she isn't scared of that. Congrats on her first place medal for the demonstration. That is really neat. I remember when I was her age..it was so fun to win medals and ribbons!!!

Once again, we are the same here too! Public speaking is one of my biggest fears. Matter of fact I did JUST enough to pass my speech class in high school and college...meaning a mark of a 'D'.
Sad, I know but I was terrified of it!!!

My boys are in 4H too! Good for her for making that cake and winning first! I am proud of her!

I think that its beautiful that you see how different she is and you relish it. I feel the same way about my boys and our differences. There are things in each one of them that I wish I had in me, but dont.

The hard pressed to find a recent pic of you with your daughter, made me think, yeah that would be me. I am the picture taker, so it's tough to find ones of me with them. We need to make sure, we as Mamas are in more!!

My daughter and I are polar opposites too. She turned 15 on Saturday. Oh how the years go by in a blink.

I often wonder where she gets her tenacity from.

I love being a Mother.!

your differences will always be what you will admire in each other AND drive you crazy about each other. I know, because my mom and I are the same way.
