20 months

My boy is 20 months old today. On the dot. I've done so much posting about his lack of verbal skills, that I thought it only fair to post now about how that boy has made a complete turnaround and talks like the dickens.

Some of John M.'s favorite words:

Juice (dooce) -Maybe a future Armstrong fan?
Outside (ah-sid)- He requests this about 100 times daily
Swing (wing) (Ah wing) - His favorite pasttime lately.
Bike (bike) - he says this one right!
Bye-Bye - said with a heavy southern accent, as if he grew up in East Tennessee
Cow (dow) - I think it's a mix between dog and cow.
Dog (dawwg) - same accent as bye-bye
Mine (mine!!) - everything is his, all of it, according to him.
I want to ride (ah wan wide) - as in the Kawasaki mule, the four wheeler, the horse . .
I want to eat (ah wan eat) - mostly mac and cheese and blackberries. I've NEVER seen a child eat blackberries as fast
as this boy can.

What gets me is he can say just about everything now, or something close to it. He went from 5 words to 500 in the blink of an eye.

My favorite is Mama though. And it always will be.
Have I mentioned he has me wrapped all the way around every one of his fingers?

He's getting quite the vocabulary...just wait another couple months and it'll be 10 new words a day!

Adam says 'cycle' for 'bike.'
He hasn't learned 'mine' yet but he tends to like the word 'NO' alot.

He is a beautiful boy, isn't he? I just love your photo's!

Twenty months. He isn't that much younger than Ethan.

"See how they grow, see how they grow"

OH how time goes by in a blink.

Awwe, sweet! I love those little ways they get of saying things :)

My little guy waited a while to talk much as well, but now he jabbers all the time. Sometimes it's clear as day, other times you need to decipher a little. :)

My favorite is what he calls my mom's dog. Her name is Amber, and he calls her Hamburger.

LOL!

I saw your AI comment over on Chesney's blog so had to come visit you again and say SOUL PATROL!!! :D

Aww, how sweet!

My little guy will be 19 months in just 2 days and he is starting to say more too. Finally, he'll say Mama and mean me. :)

I love reading specifics about milestones. I don't know what I'll do if members of my blogland family ever cut me off.. I'm getting attached to reading about all these babies growing up.

Faith has her own language to about a lot of things - we're just the interpreters.

John M.. what a cutie.

My youngest nephew is about the same age and speaks in the same manner. He is probably too busy palying to learn how to talk. ;-)

My little boy didn't speak much at all until he was getting close to three. Now, a year later, you would never know it. His vocabulary is huge. My favorite was when he was just starting to talk, he kept on saying "bowie". We couldn't figure out what he meant until we realized he was trying to say mommy.

They grow up all too quickly. I wished I had invented a pill years ago cause then I would have frozen my children in the "small" stage for a loooong time!!

I can totally relate to being wrapped around my baby's fingers! :) Happy 20 months John M.! What a cutie! Oh, and I'd love to see a picture of him eating blackberries. I bet that is adorable. Messy, but adorable.

How about "sorry"? No words, only a pat on your head, after he hurt your feelings. So much better than any apology, don't you think?

Anonymous (Mom) . . I forgot that one, yeah, that's a good one!

That's fantastic! Way to go John...and his pictures are so cute. I hope Sam is that quick to learn. We've been teaching her baby sign language and she's learned 2 words. She's trying to say kitty and it comes out 'TEEEEE TEEEE' - ball which comes out 'ba ba' and mama and dadda. It's so fun watching them make a huge success!

Sounds like my 23 month old. At 18 months, he said nothing and now he talks like he is three years old.
