About 5 years ago, we had bought some seashells from one of those cheesy souvenir shops in Biloxi. We also bought a little dried starfish; it's kind of delicate and sweet looking. I have it next to the girls bathroom sink. And so .... the point of this post.
Emma yelling(in the tub last night): Mommmmm?!
Me yelling (from the next room): Yeah?
Emma: Can I please put that starfish on the counter in the tub with me?
Me: Sure, I guess.
Emma (after a few seconds of silent contemplation): Mom?
Me: Uh-uh?
Emma: It won't come back alive or anything, huh?
Me: (chuckle) No, you're good.
just when you think they're too grown up for you, they lay something like this on you and you're so happy that a little piece of them is still so innocent-

I love it. And that is so, so true about hanging on to the innocence!
Oh, that's so great. Love that they still keep looking to us for answers, even when they're so grown up!
That is so funny. I remember asking my mom something like that one time.
Oh, that is so cute!
i hope you get many more years of innocence too!!!
Yep...just when we think they don't need us as much they say something cute that lets us know different. Mine are grown and sometimes when things are really tough emotionally for them they still let me know. Once you're a Mom, you'll always be a Mom! Ain't it GREAT!!!
How funny. You're such a good Mom. I think I might have said "Yeah, there's a chance it will, just watch your toes....those are their favorite!"
That is TOO cute!
