Not Quite Joan

The ‘bad mom’ blues have me down some lately. Not on a ‘Mommy Dearest’ level, but just feeling neglectful.
I have this continuous feeling that I can’t give everyone what they need. I can give them little bits and pieces of time, and maybe a bigger chunk every now and then, but not enough. I guess there’s never enough time. That’s what it boils down to. Between hauling kids from activity to activity and trying to keep the house just a tiny bit organized, every minute is reserved for something. Oh, and then there’s school. We can’t forget about that, even though lately that seems to fall between the cracks. Priorities a little screwy here?

I feel the need to get back on track. Maybe just a little, nothing crazy. I need a day off from work and from the kids. I feel the need to organize. My thoughts and my space. Anyone offering to come over and help?

I’ll let you know how it goes.

Or maybe I just need a long bath . . .

Aw Rene, I feel your pain. I would pop over in a heartbeat to help with dem kiddos if I could. I hope you get your space/time-out. Breathe and just know you are doing the best you can.

I don't think you're alone.
I get these feelings on a daily basis and I only have ONE child.
I'm sure you're doing your best and from what I can tell in posts and pictures, you have very happy kids so I'd say you're doin' all right! ;)

What you need is a girls night out or a girls weekend away like the one I just had with my three BFF's! :)

Must be something going around. I'm in a funk myself.

Take it easy!

HI, long time closet reader here. Just wanted to say that I know the feeling. Pulled in so many directions and never feeling that I am quite accomplishing anything. Taking a day off to organize would be great. Especially with no kids. Everybody needs it. And don't feel bad about the school thing, I finally went off on my daughter's teacher last year and explained that when you work until after 5 pm, have 3-4 hours to cook, clean, do sports, spend any time the homework can be just too much.

Oh, I know what you mean. I hope you can get some organizing done, but...take some time for yourself too, if you can.

Girl, I get up at the crack of dawn just to have my house look halfway decent! Hang in there!

Oooohh...a day off and a day away? Yes, please!

Hoping you got to take your bubble bath! :)

I know the feeling. Taking care of more than one child has that effect on a Mom. Heck, taking care of one child has that effect on a Mom. Serenity Now! This cycle will pass; you are doing a great job!

Renee I can totally relate to what you are feeling. It doesn't help that I already get in a funk in January and February, then I got the flu, then both my girls have gotten sick all within about one month.

I am one of those people who starts to silently internalize my "freak outs" if things just seem out of control. I hate feeling like I am not good enough at being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend et.

I bet if you take one personal day off while the kids are at school to just tackle some things around your house you will feel much better and more grounded.

Hugs!

You're only one person and there is three of them.......cut yourself some slack........you can't do everything at the same time. But I know how you are feeling 'cause I used to feel the same way. Now that mine are all grown and I've asked them if they ever felt neglected they all say their childhoods were the greatest! So get rid of that guilt, it'll all work out and a hundred years from now no one will even care! ;) Hugs

I get the some way sometimes.
But to answer your question...yes, a long hot bubble bath ALWAYS helps!!! It's my favorite cure for anything!

I'm still here - since I had to wrap up my part of the stuff that I can't blog about, I have been way behind online and in real life.. so I totally understand. I feel guilty all the time lately. I wish I could help - that would mean that we lived close enough to hang out!

Oh, yeah...I know what you mean. And honestly, I think that's a part of the reason why I am so undecided about a third. I just don't know if I could be the mom to a third that I know I am to the two I have here.

I LOVE organizing - if you didn't live in the damn States, I'd be over at your house with brownies and a bottle of wine, ready to organize.

Any chance you wanna move to Canada? :)
