Can you guess what's going on in this picture?

Did you guess the 4-H Sew With Cotton contest at the parish library yesterday? You did?! Well, you'd be right.
This was Anna's first year taking part. She was not looking forward to the modeling part. They had to make aprons, so modeling an apron isn't real exciting, I guess. She told me beforehand that she was sorry she had decided to do it and she most definitely was not doing it next year. I totally understand because I used to take part in this same contest eons ago and I despised the modeling part. I wanted to sink into the floor when I had to walk out in front of all those people. My mom has pictures of me in my stylin! 4-H dresses and I'm all hunched over and looking miserable. I need to post those. Y'all would enjoy them. Anna won a purple ribbon (notice it in her hand) and that made it all worth it. She even said she'd do it again next year. The dashing young man next to Anna is my nephew, John, who took home the overall first place prize! The only man in the competition too!

They're following in their grandmothers' footsteps, that's for sure, because if you're looking for a seamstrss, don't stop here.

***Update to this post. My mom found the picture. She has been welcomed into the 21st century and actually owns a SCANNER! So, here it is. Guess which one is me. HINT: I'm not the one on the right. Question #2, guess which one is my sister.

I love the aprons!

Well if John keeps going in this direction, he's gonna make some woman happy with his helping around the house.

I used to sew, back in high school. Don't know if it was done right but I had some fun.
Don't bother me now with it tho. Too darn busy and no room to enjoy it in.

cuties! they look like the could be brother/sister!

The aprons are so cute! She may hate it but at least she's learning to sew.
I never learned, I can't even sew a button!

That's great that she's learning to sew. I wish I knew how.

Congrats on her purple ribbon!

I was in 4-H too, way back when Betsy Ross was sewing the flag. I made an apron, oh joy. I remember I stitched the pocket on upside down and got so frustrated that I wanted to quit right there on the spot. ugh! I don't remember having to work the runway though...lol!

It's hard to see your faces in the picture but one of the two in the middle must be you...second from left??

Great stuff! Thanks for posting! :)

I have never heard of a cotton contest. Is that a southern thing? Anna looks cute in her aprin, and so does your nephew.
Are you the second from the right? And your sister standing next to you?

I know which one you are, The Good-lookin' one! And your sister is the almost-as-good-lookin' one!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!!!!

Markd60 is a charmer isn't he. That was a great answer though Mark! I think you are the one in the middle on the right and your sister is the one in the middle on the left. The two outside folks are unrelated!

I'd never heard of this contest, either, but I love your daughter's apron. I wouldn't be too keen on the modeling part!
